Sheriff’s Office mourns the unexpected passing of K9 Officer ‘Dallas’
Yesterday, Sheriff Ken Mascara of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Pierce, Florida, issued a statement announcing that one of his office’s K9 officers, “Dallas,” had died unexpectedly.
It is with deep sadness that our agency announces the unexpected death of K9 Dallas. On Wednesday, Dallas exhibited signs of a medical emergency and was taken to a local veterinarian. Unfortunately, he never recovered and passed away late Friday evening.
Mascara went on to say that K9 Dallas joined his department on July 8, 2016, the day after a tragic shooting in Dallas, Texas, where five law enforcement officers were killed and nine others were injured.
Dallas was named in honor of their sacrifice.
Our agency mourns the loss of K9 Dallas and sends love and support to his partner, Deputy Brandon Nuccio, and family during this very difficult time.
