Six hurt, one dead, after car crashes into Miami Beach sidewalk café
(Image credit: Miami Beach Police Department) Yesterday evening at 6:03 p.m., Miami Beach Police and Fire responded to a traffic crash at the “Call Me Gaby” Italian restaurant located at 22 Washington Avenue in the busy South Point section of Miami Beach. The police department reported that an elderly woman was attempting to parallel park, but instead accelerated onto the outdoor cafe area of the restaurant. The woman struck several tables resulting in seven patients being transported to the hospital.

Tragically, one of the accident victims died at the hospital.
Washington Avenue between South Pointe Drive and 1 Street was closed as accident investigators collected information at the scene of the crash. The elderly woman behind the wheel of the Bentley that took out the tables at the outdoor section of the eatery has not been identified, but was said to be cooperating with investigators, according to Click Orlando.
“Our entire city grieves for all the victims and their families, just a devastating tragedy,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said.
