Just days before Christmas, a South Florida real-estate agent was shot and killed while she was sitting in her Jeep outside a rental home she was showing.  The realtor, identified as 40-year-old Sara Michelle Trost, was shot multiple times outside of that Coral Springs residence around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to WSVN. Trost, from Parkland, Florida, died at the scene.

Immediately following the shooting, the Coral Springs Police Department received a 9-1-1 call regarding shots fired in the area of 5730 NW 48th Court in Coral Springs.  When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a vehicle with one female occupant in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite immediate medical treatment, Trost, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Coral Springs Police Department detectives conducted an immediate investigation and detained an individual in connection with the shooting.

Police said Raymond W. Reese, 51, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting. Arrest records show he’s being held at a Palm Beach County jail without bond. ~ WFLA

Officials are reporting that the shooting may have stemmed from a landlord / tenant dispute between Trost and the shooter. Several residents in that Coral Springs neighborhood told the authorities that Reese and his family were recently evicted from a rental home in the area.

Police said that their Crimes Against Persons Unit (CAPS) is still actively investigating the incident and encourages anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact Detective Brian Koenig at 954-346-1229 or BKoenig@coralsprings.org.

Trost, who moved to the U.S. from the U.K. to flip, sell, and rent homes in South Florida, leaves behind a husband and a young daughter.
