St. Petersburg man charged with attempted murder after striking woman in head with hatchet
On November 25, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a St. Petersburg man who tried killing a woman in St. Pete with a hatchet. That man has since been charged with attempted murder. On Tuesday, November 22 at approximately 10:36 a.m. deputies responded to 4000 24th Street North, Lot 230, in unincorporated St. Petersburg in reference to that violent murder attempt.
According to detectives, deputies located a 56-year-old female with a hatchet protruding from her head and she was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

The criminal suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Michel Dougherty, fled from the scene prior to deputies’ arrival. Through various investigative techniques detectives were able to locate Dougherty’s vehicle near Gainesville on Tuesday, November 22.
And on Thursday, November 24 at approximately 2:50 a.m., Dougherty was pulled over by an Alachua County Deputy where he was taken into custody for a warrant for attempted second degree murder and transported to the Alachua County Jail.
Dougherty was charged with one felony count of Attempted Second Degree Murder and will be transported to the Pinellas County Jail in the near future.
WFLA-TV reported that family members identified the victim as Lisa Rogers Eaton of St. Petersburg. The attack occurred at the Silver Lake Mobile Home Park in St. Petersburg, according to the television station.
“We don’t understand it,” Donna Voye, the victim’s older sister, told WFLA.
“We can’t understand it because she wouldn’t hurt anybody, according to a quote shared by WFTV.
