Staten Island high school teacher under investigation for pleasuring himself during video conference call
On December 1, local officials announced that a teacher employed at Tottenville High School in New York’s borough of Staten Island, is being investigated by the New York Police Department after reports stated that the educator, “was caught pleasuring himself during a video conference.”

The NYPD confirmed that a complaint was made on Monday at the high school. Authorities went on to say that they were indeed investigating the incident but wouldn’t divulge any further details.
A spokesperson for the NYPD informed the media yesterday that, “The investigation is active and ongoing at this time.”
Details are still sketchy regarding the incident. It’s not known if the teacher’s behavior was intentional or whether or not any students witnessed the act.
Yahoo! News shared a quote from New York City’s Department of Education spokesperson Danielle Filson, who said that, “this extremely disturbing alleged behavior has absolutely no place in our schools and was immediately reported to the NYPD. The teacher was immediately reassigned away from students pending the outcome of an investigation.”
A similar incident during these days of the new normal that involved a more public figure occurred recently when book author and staff writer for the New Yorker, Jeffrey Toobin, who was also employed by CNN as a legal analyst, was fired for visibly masturbating on a zoom call. At the time, the 60-year-old Toobin stated that he didn’t realize he was on camera during the act.
Toward the end of September 2020, Tottenville High School sent out a letter saying they would be starting the school year completely virtually, an announcement parents were not happy about. For that story, see the video below.
