Cocoa Beach, Florida, is home to The Surfing Santas, where hundreds of Santa’s helpers in full garb come together to Hang 10 while thousands of spectators enjoy the holiday action.  And Christmas Eve 2022 was no exception – even with the Sunshine State’s frigid temperatures.

What started out as a small, family day in Cocoa Beach has turned into a global phenomenon. People from all over congregate on Christmas Eve in Cocoa Beach to celebrate the holidays with Santa, friends and family. Whether you surf or you’re looking to join in the holiday spirit, there’s no other beach having this much fun on Christmas Eve!  ~  Surfing Santas (website)

About 10,000 fans hit the beach yesterday for the annual charity event that first graced Cocoa Beach in 2009.  And according to Fox 35 Orlando, yesterday’s gathering of Surfing Santas “raised tens of thousands of dollars for local charities in the area and benefits the Florida Surf Museum, which preserves the state’s surfing history, and a local charity named Grind For Life that helps people with cancer.”

Kudos to yesterday’s Surfing Santas who braved the Atlantic surf that felt awfully close to Santa’s North Pole wonderland as the temperatures in the Sunshine State were hitting the freeze point.  A beachside restaurant distributed free hot cocoa to help those brave Santa’s Helpers stay warm, according to ABC News.
