Teen, 16, charged as an adult in shooting of woman on Truesdale Avenue

Earlier today, police in Baltimore City reported that an arrest was made in a February 17 shooting that went down on the 5000 block of Truesdale Avenue in Baltimore around 1:21 p.m.  When police arrived at that location, officers discovered an adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her upper and lower body. She was transported to a local hospital in serious condition but fortunately still remains alive.

Today, the Baltimore Police Department reported that 16 year-old Malik Bell of Baltimore has been arrested for that shooting.  Bell was arrested by Baltimore City School Police yesterday, February 24, at Patterson High School, while in possession of a loaded handgun.  Bell is a student at Patterson High.

The teen was taken from school to Central Booking where he was formally charged, according to CBS News in Baltimore.

Following the arrest, Police Sergeant and Fraternal Order of Police President at Baltimore City Public Schools, Clyde Boatwright, posted to his Facebook page:

Great job today by the officers at Patterson High School. Police officers working in a high school while unarmed; came face to face with a student who was wanted for at least one attempted murder (non-fatal shooting). The suspect fought the school police officers and was caught with this [loaded weapon below] …

The 16 year-old Bell was charged as an adult with attempted 1st degree murder and several handgun violations.
