Teen girls escape attempted kidnapping in Pompano Beach
On December 20, Special Victims Unit Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) reported investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, December 18 in Pompano Beach, Florida.
According to detectives, three young girls were walking home from the 2700 block of Northeast Ninth Court when a man on a bicycle approached and made contact with them. Two of the girls immediately ran away. The third girl, 14-years-old, continued walking until she realized the man was following her. At that point, she also began to run.
She told investigators that the suspected kidnapper blocked her path and attempted to grab her by her hoodie. The male subject told her to get on his bike. The female screamed and was able to run away.
The girls immediately alerted trusted adults and contacted law enforcement. Detectives have obtained video evidence that corroborates the incident; however, the video does not show an image of the male subject and is not being released at this time. ~ BSO
The girls described the suspected kidnapper as a black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches with a muscular build. He is bald or has very short hair with no facial hair. His bicycle is believed to be dark in color.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office has asked the community to be on alert.
