Teens run amuck in Florida Walmart coughing on customers and spraying them with Fabreeze
(Updated 05/19/2020) In the age of today’s new normal and having to go out in public while trying to socially distance in an effort to stay safe from the corona virus, the last thing anyone would want would be to be in a store and have someone coughing on you. But on May 9, the Indian River Sheriff’s Office received a call about two teens running through the Vero Beach Walmart coughing on customers and then spraying them with Fabreeze.
The caller told an emergency dispatcher that the suspects have since left the store and drove away in a white pick-up truck.
A deputy responded to the scene, tracked down the vehicle and pulled it over for a traffic stop in the 4300 block of State Road 60 at around 6.40pm. ~ The Daily Mail
The K-9 Deputy overseeing the traffic stop successfully detained and then arrested the two 18-year-old teens that were running amuck in Walmart. The teens, identified as Amos Troublefield and Antonio Green, are residents of Fort Pierce, Florida.
Deputies had watched the store’s surveillance footage of Troublefield and Green as they recorded themselves on cell phone video coughing and spraying Fabreeze under their armpits and onto unsuspecting customers in the store. The teens left the store without paying for the Fabreeze that they took from the Walmart shelves.
According to the arrest affidavit, the two troublemakers told deputies they were recording a YouTube video of themselves “pretending to cough on somebody but actually spraying them with Fabreeze.” When asked why they would be coughing on people during a COVID-19 pandemic, they said they were just trying to make a funny video to post on YouTube.
Following their arrests, the two were transported to Indian River County Jail.
Both Troublefield and Green were charged with Shoplifting/Retail Theft and Disorderly Conduct, which are both misdemeanors. They both have since bonded out of jail on $1,000 each.
Troublefield and Green are both scheduled to appear in court to face those charges on June 6. Maybe we can videotape their hearings for YouTube.
Editor’s Note 05/19/2020: The spelling of the word “Fabreeze” was used in this article in an effort to remain consistent with the spelling used in the IRC Sheriff’s Office Arrest Affidavit as indicated below. (The actual air freshener spray is spelled “Febreze.”) Apologies for any confusion.
