‘Titans’ Season 3 on HBO Max reveals new super-suit for The Red Hood
After Batman’s first sidekick, Dick “Robin” Grayson grew up and became Nightwing, Robin was replaced with a new teen wonder, Jason Todd. In a strange story arc, DC Comics held a write-in contest to see if fans wanted Jason to continue as the second Robin, or if they would prefer he got killed off. In a controversial decision, Jason ended up being brutally murdered by the Joker in Batman: A Death in the Family.
But thanks to the magic of comic book story-telling, Jason came back to life after Ra’s al Ghul used the Lazarus Pit to resurrect him.
Unfortunately, Jason’s resurrection was far from a pleasant one. Traumatized by his own violent end, Jason returned to the world unhinged and bent on revenge. Not only for himself, but for everyone caught in the crossfire of the endless catch-and-release cycle of Gotham City’s super-villain underworld.
He trained himself to be a killer and a mercenary, and he took on a new identity and code name – the Red Hood – in order to strike his own brand of fear in Gotham’s criminals.
Over time, Jason learned to deal with his rage in a way that didn’t rack up a body count and he made peace with Batman and his fellow superheroes. But the bad blood between him and his adoptive family is ever ready to paint their city red once more.
Eventually, Jason, as The Red Hood, joined the “Titans” on HBO Max, complete with a brand new supersuit that’s being introduced in Titans’ season 3.
This week, HBO Max revealed a special first look of the new suit for Jason Todd’s Red Hood (Curran Walters) from the action-packed DC series “Titans”. Created by costume designer Laura Jean Shannon, the suit is the first image seen of Todd’s Red Hood persona, after his stint as the replacement Robin. This will be the first time the individual Red Hood costume has ever been seen in a live action production.
“Titans” seasons one and two will be made available on the HBO Max streaming service beginning November 1.
Initially premiering in 2018 as the first DC Universe Original Series, “Titans” has now begun production on season three. Along with “Red Hood,” returning characters includes: Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing (Brenton Thwaites); Kory Anders, aka Starfire (Anna Diop); Rachel Roth, aka Raven (Teagan Croft); Gar Logan, aka Beast Boy (Ryan Potter); Hank Hall, aka Hawk (Alan Ritchson); Dawn Granger, aka Dove (Minka Kelly); Donna Troy, aka Wondergirl (Conor Leslie); Conner Kent, aka Superboy (Joshua Orpin); and Blackfire (Damaris Lewis).
