New data reveals the top ten Florida counties that spend the most on medical bills.

The research, conducted by accident attorneys RTRLAW, examined the average cost of medical care in each Florida county on Florida Health Finder. Medical bundles—including, but not limited to, knee replacements, gallbladder removals, and cesarean deliveries—were sorted into eleven categories using GPT-4. These categories include surgeries, procedures, therapies, and more. The study then combined the median prices of each category to name the top ten counties with the highest average medical costs.

A spokesperson for RTRLAW has commented on the findings: “Unexpected medical costs are the number one financial burden for Americans, with research by KFF showing that 45% of adults worry about paying unforeseen medical bills. With the price of healthcare continuing to rise across the nation, this study has highlighted the most expensive counties for medical bills in Florida. While having reliable healthcare insurance can remove some of this anxiety, it is important to understand which areas are affected most by heightened costs so that governmental bodies can work together to make these surgeries and treatments more readily available for residents across Florida.”
