Towson University student charged with raping woman in his dorm room
On September 23, Police in Baltimore County reported that a 20-year-old college student was charged with rape after a student victim contacted Towson University Police on Sunday to report the incident.
The victim, an adult woman, told police that she went to the suspect’s on-campus apartment to watch a movie around 3:30 p.m. on September 22. When he began to make sexual advances toward her, she declined.  But, according to the victim, the man held her down and raped her.
Towson University Police were able to locate the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Onyekachukwu Chukwuebuk Igwilo of the 400 block of Towson Way and detained him until Baltimore County Police arrived to further the investigation, which yielded enough probable cause to make an immediate arrest of the suspect.
Police say Igwilo invited the victim to his room at Marshall Hall to watch a movie Sunday afternoon when soon, his unwanted advances toward the woman escalated.
“He continued until the point he held her down and then raped her. After that, he refused to let her leave initially, but then eventually did let her leave,“ said Ofc. Jennifer Peach, a spokesperson for the Baltimore County Police Department. ~ Fox 45 News
He initially blocked the victim from leaving the apartment but eventually did let her leave. Soon after, she contacted Towson University Police to report the incident.
The victim did suffer a visible physical injury during the incident and was transported to an area hospital.
Igwilo reportedly held his victim down by her neck during the rape and left physical marks from his attack.
The victim also told police he was holding a cell phone in his hand and recorded her. Igwilo is no longer allowed on the TU campus as police investigate the incident. ~ CBS Baltimore
Igwilo is charged with first-degree rape, attempted first-degree rape, false imprisonment, and first- and second-degree assault. He is being held on no bail status pending a bail review hearing scheduled for later today.
The Baltimore County Police Special Victims Unit is continuing to investigate.
