Traffic stop for expired tag leads to Meth, Fentanyl drug bust
On March 16, a Deputy with Volusia Sheriff’s Office’s Deltona Crime Suppression Team noticed a vehicle driving down the road with an expired tag and pulled the driver over. The Sheriff’s Office said that, all things considered, it was, “not a bad traffic stop.”
Upon inspection, the Deputy discovered that a passenger in that vehicle, 41-year-old William Cintron of Sanford, Florida, was in possession of 22.2 grams of methamphetamine, 6.2 grams of fentanyl, and more than $13,000 cash in a small safe.
Cintron was taken into custody and charged with:
- trafficking in fentanyl,
- trafficking in methamphetamine,
- possession of marijuana, and,
- possession of drug paraphernalia.
And as it turned out, the driver of the vehicle with the expired tag was also arrested. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the driver had an open warrant issued against him for failure to appear on prior drug charges.
