Back on March 23 of this year, deputies with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) arrested a Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) teacher on a felony charge connected with inappropriate relationships he had with two juvenile victims. On April 23, additional charges were brought forth.

Originally, the teacher, Travis Westberry, 30, of Summit Place Circle from Naples, Florida, was charged with transmission of material harmful to minors to a minor by electronic device or equipment.  At the time of his March 23 arrest, Westberry was a teacher and boys varsity basketball coach at Immokalee High School in the town of Immokalee. He had also taught at Golden Gate High School and Golden Gate Middle School.

An Immokalee student detailed in the March 23 arrest report an instance where Westberry touched and rubbed her thigh without her consent.

A second victim, who Westberry friend-requested on Instagram and communicated with after meeting in September,  said he messaged her a picture of his genitals in December and explained it was a “mistake,” according to a separate arrest report.

The investigation into the teacher’s illegal extra-curricular activities began after his victims disclosed information about Westberry to a CCPS staff member

On April 23, the Sheriff’s Office announced that additional charges have been brought forth against Westberry.  As their investigation continued, CCSO detectives identified two additional minor victims. On Thursday, prosecutors charged Westberry with one felony count of aggravated stalking of a child under 16 and three misdemeanor counts of battery.

The School District terminated Westberry’s employment following his March 23 arrest.  He remains in the Naples Jail Center on $225,000 bond.

The investigation into Westberry is still ongoing.
