Two Marylanders lost their lives on the morning of April 11 in a fatal two-vehicle crash that went down in rural Pylesville. Shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack responded to Maryland Route 165 at St. Mary’s Road in Pylesville, Maryland, for a report of a multi-vehicle crash. Police identified the deceased as 36-year-old Matthew Rockstroh of Dundalk, and 44-year-old Bryan Frei of Jarrettsville.
Rockstroh was driving a Chevrolet Equinox involved in the crash and Frei was driving a Toyota Tacoma that was involved in the crash. Both men were both pronounced dead on the scene.
According to a Maryland State Police preliminary investigation, the driver of the 2014 Chevy Equinox, for unknown reasons, crossed over from the southbound lane into the northbound lane of traffic and crashed head-on into Toyota Tacoma. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.
Route 165 was closed in both directions for about five hours following the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
