Utah man arrested after confessing to brutally murdering woman he met through Tinder
On May 24 at 3:19 a.m., Layton Police Dispatch in Utah received a 911 call from 24-year-old Ethan Hunsaker. During the call, Hunsaker stated that he had killed a person inside his residence near 1300 N. Reid Avenue in Layton.
Officers responded to the residence where they were able to make contact with Hunsaker. Police found a woman lying on the floor of the home, having sustained multiple stab wounds to the torso.
Despite efforts to revive her, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene. Hunsaker cooperated with police and was arrested on the scene without incident.
Hunsaker told police that he met the woman through the dating app Tinder late in the evening on May 23. The motive behind the murder is still under investigation. But police say the attack appeared to be unprovoked.
Heavy.com shared some arrest records’ info obtained via station KUTV in Salt Lake City that stated: Hunsaker admitted to officers that he killed the woman by choking and stabbing her and that he only learned the victim’s first name through the dating app.
… Hunsaker’s home lacked furniture and that Hunsaker is accused of having “intimate relations” with the woman before waking up and attacking her. He used a “spring assisted pocket knife” from the kitchen, kneeling over the woman and stabbing her, according to the television station.
“Ethan stated he stabbed (the woman) more than five times, but no more than 10 times. Ethan stated he watched (the woman) bleed through the stab wounds. (The woman) was left laying on her stomach where she died in the bedroom,” Deseret News quoted the police affidavit.
The as of yet still unidentified victim was a 25-year-old female.
