Yesterday, Florida’s Vero Beach Police Department (VBPD) shared some shocking news with their community regarding an incident that went down during the morning hours of January 10 at South Beach Park. On that morning, VBPD officers responded to that beach area due to a report of a man exposing himself to a young girl near the restroom pavilion.
The young victim told police she noticed the man acting strangely while he continuously walked by her and her adult female friend. The man then entered the restroom and upon exiting, he stood in the doorway exposing himself to her.
Distraught, the young girl and her female friend immediately left the area.
The male suspect then quickly walked to the parking lot where he entered a blue SUV and left the area. Thinking quickly, the victim’s friend took several photographs of the male and the SUV with her cell phone, which she was then able to provide to officers.
Utilizing the photographs and other investigative resources, members of the Detective Division were able to positively identify the male suspect as Nicholas E. Wagner. Turns out, Police discovered that Wagner had been previously arrested in March of 2024 and was on pretrial release for several charges of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation (12-16yrs old). While on pretrial release, Wagner was ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor.
Detectives determined that the GPS data from the ankle monitor confirmed he was at South Beach Park on the morning of January 10. An arrest warrant was obtained for Indecent Exposure. On January 21, Wagner was located and arrested at the Holiday Inn located at 9400 19th Lane. Police say that Wagner remains incarcerated at the Indian River County Jail where his bond has been revoked.
