Vero Beach mom busted mailing drugs to her incarcerated daughter
Earlier today, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) headquartered in Vero Beach, Florida, posted a friendly reminder to the community to please, “refrain from mailing illegal drugs or other controlled substances to inmates currently incarcerated within our jail facility”. The Sheriff’s Office went on to report on a recent incident that involved a mother mailing drugs to her daughter, who is incarcerated at the Indian River Jail.
During the month of December, IRCSO corrections staff intercepted multiple shipments of paperback books that had Suboxone, sublingual strips hidden within the pages of those books. Suboxone is a commonly prescribed synthetic, narcotic analgesic. The books were mailed to Victoria R. Beuttell, who is currently a guest at the Indian River Jail and who is awaiting trial on a “multitude of felony charges.“
The inmate’s mother, also named Victoria Beuttell, was busted mailing those drugs to her incarcerated daughter. To differentiate between the two Beuttells, the Sheriff’s Office dubbed the mother “Big Vicky” – and the daughter as “Lil Vicky.”
Big Vicky and Lil Vicky are listed as residents of Vero Beach.
On December 9, members of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit and correctional staff conducted a controlled delivery of the package to Lil Vicky.
Lil Vicky was subsequently interviewed and confessed. Big Vicky, who was still outstanding, immediately asked for an attorney.
Much to Big Vicky’s dismay, her signature was on file with the Sheriff’s Office and was quickly matched to the receipt she signed when she mailed the package. That, coupled with other evidence, left both Vicky’s on the hook for criminal conspiracy charges related to introduction of contraband into a detention facility.
Victoria Reeve Beuttell, a.k.a. Lil Vicky, had been in jail since February 2020, with no bond, facing the following charges:
- Felony – Giving False Information to Pawn Broker $300 or More
- Felony – 3rd Degree Grand Theft
- Fraudulent Use of Credit Card (five counts)
- Felony – Dealing in Stolen Property
Yesterday, a “Felony – Attempt, Solicitation and Conspiracy” charge was added to Lil Vicky’s earlier charges. The Sheriff’s Office went on to say that the mother / daughter team will get to see each before Christmas.
