Vero Beach teen, 16, arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, and more
On May 7, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office reported arresting a Vero Beach, Florida, 16-year-old boy on multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder. Noah Oberbeck of Vero Lake Estates is reported to have had a troubled past, and on Wednesday following his arrest, he was charged with the following:
- grand theft firearm,
- armed burglary with enhanced penalty of wearing a mask,
- unarmed burglary to a conveyance, and
- attempted first-degree murder.
Additional charges are pending against Oberbeck and an accomplice for a string of auto burglaries in the Vero Lake Estates area.
The charges outlined above stem from an incident back in November 2019 when a Vero Beach Estates homeowner living in the 7700 block of 100th Court interrupted Oberbeck and an accomplice breaking into the man’s car which was parked in his driveway. As the two suspects fled, shots were fired, striking the homeowner in the wrist.
Deputies were called to a shooting in the 7700 block of 100th Court in the Vero Lake Estates area at 4:21 a.m., according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that K-9 Kobi and Deputy Reimsnyder were critical in the tracking and securing of evidence that ultimately provided DNA identification in this case.
The teen’s mugshot photo above is from September 2019 when he was taken into custody by Indian River County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of Absconding Supervision / Violation of Home Detention. He was 15 years old at the time of that arrest. His description from that arrest included the following: “Height: 5′ 4″, Weight: 120 lbs., Occupation: Student.”
Additional public arrest records from January 27 through February 2, 2019, uncovered the following:
Noah Oberbeck, 15, of Vero Beach, tampering with/fabricating physical evidence, possession of drug cultivation paraphernalia, possession of marijuana with intent to sell/manufacture/deliver.
Following his arrest, Oberbeck was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Fort Pierce.
