Law enforcement officials working with three different agencies in South Florida successfully apprehended a violent felon from Vero Beach who has been on the run and eluding the law for the last few years.  This past Valentine’s Day, Indian River County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the U.S. Marshal Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted by deputies from Martin County Sheriff Office and Saint Lucie County Sheriff Office were able to take that wanted violent felony offender into custody.

Emanuel McKenzie has been wanted since April 2018 for violation of probation for aggravated battery, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said. The aggravated battery case involved McKenzie shooting someone during a drug deal.  ~ CBS12 News

“Emanuel has fled from our uniform patrol deputies on numerous occasions over the last 2 years but his luck ran out yesterday thanks to the Task Force, K9 Ruckus and HAWK 3.”  ~ Indian River County Sheriff’s Office

The Task Force was able to locate McKenzie in the 1000 block of 10th Court SW in Vero Beach on February 14. McKenzie hid in a shed but K9 Deputy Holly and his K9 partner Ruckus were able to track him down. A K9 deployment warning was issued after which McKenzie came out of the shed and was taken into custody.
