Yesterday, while getting ready to jet off to Europe with President Joe Biden, White House press secretary Jen Psaki released a statement saying that after taking a PCR test on the morning of March 22,the test came back as positive for COVID-19, “which means I will be adhering to CDC guidance and no longer be traveling on the President’s trip to Europe.”

Biden and Psaki were to leave today for Brussels to attend a NATO summit, meet with G-7 leaders and join a scheduled European Council Summit, according to ABC News.  Biden is still making the trip and has plans to travel on to Poland following the NATO summit.  There are no plans as of this time for the President to enter Ukraine.

“I had two socially-distanced meetings with the President yesterday, and the President is not considered a close contact as defined by CDC guidance. I am sharing the news of my positive test today out of an abundance of transparency

Thanks to the vaccine, I have only experienced mild symptoms. In alignment with White House COVID-19 protocols, I will work from home and plan to return to work in person at the conclusion of a five-day isolation period and a negative test.” ~ Jen Psaki, The White House

Psaki went on to say that President Biden tested negative for COVID after taking a PCR test on the same day.

CNN reported that White House deputy press secretary Chris Meagher stepped in to fill in for Psaki White House press briefing yesterday, thanking reporters for their “flexibility” with the “adjustments” as he kicked off the briefing.

This is the second time Psaki has contracted the novel COVID virus. She first tested positive in October 2021.

Also yesterday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reported that she has also tested positive for COVID-19.
