(April 4, 2025) On March 18, 2025, at approximately 5:56 p.m., patrol officers in Baltimore’s Central District responded to the 700 block of East Preston Street to investigate a reported shooting.

Upon their arrival, officers located a 31-year-old female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.  Baltimore Police were soon able to identify the shooting victim as old Shy’Keema Turner.

Yesterday, investigators announced the arrest of 26-year-old Unique Thorn of Baltimore, saying that Thorn is the woman behind the gun that killed Turner.  Officials said that Thorn fatally shot the 31-year-old Shy’Keema Turner while in the 700 block of East Preston Street, following a dispute.

WJZ News in Baltimore reported that the shooting was all recorded on video.

The video shows a woman with a gun chasing after another woman, who is believed to be Turner, in the distance.

“The lady grabbed her purse, chased her down the street shot her,” a witness told WJZ. “Everybody left that lady to die on the corner.”

Bystanders can be heard in the video cheering the alleged shooter on, and then gunshots are fired.  ~ WJZ

On April 3, 2025, law enforcement officials took Unique Thorn into custody without incident after tracking her down to Ohio. Thorn is being extradited back to Baltimore, where she will be charged with First Degree Murder.
