Woman claiming to be God robs mail truck with toy gun, flees on tricycle
On December 28, USA Today reported that a Naples, Florida, woman was arrested for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon after robbing a USPS mail truck. Deputies from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office responding to a call of a woman pointing a gun at people arrived at the scene located at Triangle Bay Dr. and Collier Blvd. around 4 p.m. on December 22. When deputies got there, they found 52-year-old Leida Crisostomo riding around the area on a tricycle and wielding a black and silver handgun.
Crisostomo complied with the deputies’ directives to drop the weapon. After dropping the handgun, Crisostomo dropped herself to the ground, rolled onto a grassy area and put her hands behind her back, according to NBC-2.
After deputies handcuffed her, Crisostomo told police she was God, then said the voices in her head were telling her to do things. ~ per WTHR
Earlier that same Saturday, Crisostomo reportedly pointed her gun at a jogger in the area. She managed to stop a USPS mail truck and steal one package from the postal worker driving the truck. Crisostomo then fled the scene riding a tricycle according to the police report.
Following her arrest, police discovered that her handgun was a plastic toy gun. Crisostomo was charged with felony armed robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No-one was injured as a result of Crisostomo’s actions. She is currently in jail being held on a $25,000 bond.
