Woman looking for runaway cat discovers human remains in burned out shed instead, Tulsa man confesses
On February 13, police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, shared the macabre tale of a woman looking for her runaway cat who instead came across human remains and helped solve a murder. On Thursday, February 9 at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers with the Tulsa Police Department were called out to a home located near Charles Page Boulevard and 54th W. Avenue regarding a call about human remains that were found in a backyard.
A woman who lived nearby went to that residence looking for her cat. The homeowner cooperated with her and let her into the backyard. The woman searching for her lost kitty then discovered the human remains in an area where a shed had burned down in September of last year.
A police investigation ensued which let Tulsa Detectives to identify Devin Scrivner as a suspect connected to those human remains.Â
On Monday, Devin Scrivner, 26, was arrested on first degree murder after witnesses claimed he was involved in the death of the person whose remains were discovered near Charles Page Boulevard and South 49th West Avenue.
Documents claim Tulsa Fire Department (TFD) responded to a fire in a shed at this same location in September 2022, but did not find the body at that time. ~ Fox 23 News
Through their investigation, Detectives were able to identify Devin Scrivner as a suspect. On Monday morning, Detectives found Scrivner hiding under a bed in west Tulsa. Â Police said that Scrivner confessed to taking part in a homicide last fall where the remains were found, and he readily admitted to knowing that, “the shed was set on fire to cover the crime.”
Police arrested Devin Scrivner on a charge of 1st Degree Murder. He is currently being detained Tulsa County Jail, according to Tulsa World.
The homicide victim was confirmed to be a male. Police said that the identity of the victim would be released after his family members were notified. Â Police added that the Detectives pursuing the ingoing investigation anticipate more arrests to be made in this case.
