Workers shot when customer shoots up McDonald’s because dining room closed due to COVID-19
The “new normal” in today’s pandemic world took another shocking turn last night when a woman, angered because an Oklahoma City McDonalds’ dining room was closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, shot up the fast food eatery because she couldn’t go inside to enjoy her happy meal. By the time the shooting stopped, four McDonalds’ workers had to be taken to the hospital, according to the Business Insider.
Three of the employees were hurt due to the shooting spree; and a fourth was assaulted, but not shot.
One employee was hit [shot] in the arm, a second was hit with shrapnel in the neck/shoulder and a third employee was hit with shrapnel in the side. Two of the employees are 16 years old, according to police. They were all taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK. ~ Oklahoma News 4
Officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) located the shooter a few blocks away from McDonalds following the shooting. Captain Larry Withrow of the OKCPD said that the shooter entered McDonalds and was informed that the indoor dining area was closed but the drive-thru was open.
The 32-year-old suspect, who was soon located several blocks away while on foot, “got into a physical altercation with one of the employees,” Withrow said, continuing: “That employee gets knocked to the ground. The suspect goes out of the restaurant and then comes back in the restaurant with a gun and fires two or three rounds off.”
Initial reports regarding the Oklahoma McDonald’s shooting stated that two customers shot up the place – but it turned out to be only the one disgruntled female shooter.
Last night’s shooting at the Oklahoma McDonalds is only the latest in a string of senseless and violent acts regarding life in the 2020 pandemic world. ABC Action News reminded us today that a Family Dollar store security guard in Michigan was shot recently after informing a customer entering the store that customers had to wear face masks
Also in Michigan, a man wiped his nose on a Dollar Tree worker’s shirt after the employee told him he needed to wear a mask.
In southern California, a customer wore what appeared to be a Ku Klux Klan hood during a trip to the grocery store — and repeatedly ignored staff requests to remove it.
