World Series 2020: Dodgers versus Rays, tickets go on sale today
On the evening of October 18, the Los Angeles Dodgers went the distance to clinch the 2020 National League pennant and are now on their way to play in the World Series for the third time in four years. It will be the Dodgers’ 12th World Series appearance since moving to Los Angeles in 1958 and the club’s 24th National League pennant in franchise history.
The Los Angeles Dodgers came away National League champions for the third time in the last four seasons after beating the Atlanta Braves in a dramatic NLCS Game 7 on Sunday night. It was a back-and-forth game with several huge moments, including players stepping up with big-time plays and others with dubious decision-making. In the end, the Dodgers won the game (and the series), 4-3.Â
The Game 7 win was the third in a row for the Dodgers, who came back from a 3-1 series deficit to capture the pennant. They’ll meet the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series. ~ CBS Sports
The World Series against the American League champion Tampa Bay Rays will be held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas starting Tuesday at 5:09 p.m. PT. The best-of-seven series continues with Game 2 on Wednesday and Games 3-5 Friday-Sunday. Games 6 and 7 (if necessary) would be on Tuesday, October 27 and Wednesday, October 28. The Dodgers will serve as the designated home team for Games 1-2 and 6-7.
The Dodgers will once again host Drive-In viewing parties for World Series games in Lots 2/3 at Dodger Stadium. Drive-In tickets go on sale for the World Series today at 10:00 a.m. at Dodgers.com/DriveIn, and admission will be $75 per car.
Fans are encouraged to visit Dodgers.com/DriveIn for viewing party safety procedures and more information.
The Tampa Bay Rays earned their spot at the show when they beat the Houston Astros. The Rays also went the distance, taking the American League Championship series all the way to a win in Game 7 on Saturday night.
It’s going to be the strangest of World Series in one way: the first neutral site World Series, to be played at the Texas Rangers’ new Globe Life Field. It is still the World Series, however, and we will have fans in stands. And after everything that has happened since March, we ended up with the two best teams in baseball playing for October glory. In fact, for only fourth time in the wild-card era (since 1995), the teams with the best record in each league will meet in the World Series. ~ ESPN
