Manfred, Jr. announced that Alomar had been terminated as a consultant to Major League Baseball and placed on the Ineligible List. Commissioner Manfred issued the following statement regarding the discipline:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>\u201cAt my office\u2019s request, an independent investigation was conducted by an external legal firm to review an allegation of sexual misconduct reported by a baseball industry employee earlier this year involving Mr. Alomar in 2014. Having reviewed all of the available evidence from the now completed investigation, I have concluded that Mr. Alomar violated MLB\u2019s policies, and that termination of his consultant contract and placement on MLB\u2019s Ineligible List are warranted.<\/em><\/p><p><em>\u201cWe are grateful for the courage of the individual who came forward. That complaint was filed with the Blue Jays, \u201c<em>months ago, over an incident that allegedly occurred several years earlier<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/major-league-baseball-toronto-blue-jays-fire-roberto-alomar-after-workplace-complaint-1.1632151\" target=\"_blank\">TSN <\/a>reported that Alomar, the Blue Jays, and MLB are all named in the lawsuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alomar took to Twitter to say that he was &#8220;disappointed, surprised, and upset,&#8221; but that he also understood the MLB&#8217;s decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Robbiealomar\/status\/1388181908027330561\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"495\" src=\"https:\/\/www.acenewstoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/INLINE-Robbie-Alomar-Tweet.jpg\" alt=\"Ace News Today - Roberto Alomar fired from MLB and Blue Jays amid sexual misconduct allegation\" class=\"wp-image-13575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.acenewstoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/INLINE-Robbie-Alomar-Tweet.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.acenewstoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/INLINE-Robbie-Alomar-Tweet-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.acenewstoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/INLINE-Robbie-Alomar-Tweet-435x308.jpg 435w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>If there\u2019s any bright spot for Alomar, it may be that his stature as a Hall of Famer will remain intact.&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/31366185\/roberto-alomar-placed-mlb-ineligible-list-2014-sexual-misconduct-allegation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ESPN<\/a> shared the following statement from the organization:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;The National Baseball Hall of Fame was shocked and saddened to learn of the news being shared today about Roberto Alomar,&#8221; Hall of Fame chairman Jane Forbes Clark said in a statement. &#8220;When he was elected to the Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers&#8217; Association of America in the Class of 2011, Alomar was an eligible candidate in good standing.
