This action is being taken in the interests of the safety and well-being of the players, Clubs and fans, according to Major League Baseball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Major League Baseball is reportedly joining the NBA in suspending all operations due to the coronavirus outbreak <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rBHcAMlfEX\">https:\/\/t.co\/rBHcAMlfEX<\/a><\/p>— Sports Illustrated (@SInow) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SInow\/status\/1238154728334376960?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 12, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The MLB will announce the effects on the\nschedule when they can and will remain flexible as events warrant, with the\nhope of resuming normal operations as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our players, employees and fans. MLB will continue to undertake the precautions and best practices recommended by public health experts. We send our best wishes to all individuals and communities that have been impacted by coronavirus.\u00a0 ~ Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Spokespersons for the Pittsburgh\nPirates, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles all jumped on\nthe bandwagon in support of the Commissioner\u2019s decision. The Orioles went on to\nsay that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>The Orioles organization is fully supportive of Major League Baseball\u2019s decision to suspend Spring Training games and to delay the start of the 2020 regular season by at least two weeks. The health and safety of our players, fans, staff, and partners will always be our top priority. We will communicate additional details, including information about refunds, directly to fans when they become available, as this is a rapidly-evolving situation.
