Zachary Adams found guilty of kidnapping, raping and murdering Holly Bobo
Six years ago, Tennessee nursing student, 20-year-old Holly Bobo, went missing from her family home in Decatur County. Three years ago, two men stumbled across what was later to be determined as her skeletal remains in a wooded area about 20 miles away from her home. On September 23, following one of the most exhaustive and costliest searches and investigations in Tennessee history, Tennessee native Zachary Adams was found guilty of kidnapping, raping and murdering Bobo, according to MSN.
Adams had pleaded not guilty to all charges. His trial lasted for 11 days. Jury deliberations lasted for less than four hours on Thursday and continued throughout the day on Friday before the jury reached the guilty on all counts verdict.
Adams’ brother, John Dylan Adams, and another man, Jason Autry, are also awaiting trials and have also been charged with the kidnapping, raping and killing Bobo, according to Fox News. The sentencing phase of Zachary Adams’ trial begins today in Savannah, Tennessee. Adams could be sentenced to death.
Autry testified against Adams, telling jurors that Adams told him that he, his brother and their friend Shayne Austin had raped Bobo. Autry also said that he served as a lookout as Adams shot Bobo near a river in the day she was reported missing. Autry was on a list of witnesses who were offered immunity in the case. He said he testified because he wanted leniency. ~ per Fox News
Bobo, who lived with her parents in Decatur County, was reported missing on April 13, 2011. Her younger brother, Clint, was the last person to see her. Clint Bobo told detectives that at 7:30 a.m. on the morning of April 13, he saw his sister being led into the woods behind the family’s home by a man Clint assumed to be Holly’s boyfriend. Clint called 911 after discovering blood outside the home.
