Fatal downtown stabbing leads to murder arrest in Baltimore

BALTIMORE — A fatal stabbing in the heart of Baltimore City has led to a murder arrest, with police taking a 30-year-old Owings Mills man into custody days after the deadly attack.
James Harrison was arrested August 6 by Baltimore Police Department Entertainment District officers in the 300 block of North Eutaw Street. Investigators say Harrison was wanted in connection with the killing of 48-year-old Roderick Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald was fatally stabbed August 2 in the 300 block of West Saratoga Street in Baltimore’s Central District.
The homicide investigation quickly focused on Harrison, who was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility following his arrest. He has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and assault.
The arrest marks a significant development in the investigation, but the circumstances surrounding the stabbing and what led to Fitzgerald’s death have not been publicly detailed by police.
Harrison remains accused of the crimes.
