Guns, alcohol and a bad decision: Couple arrested after Fort Pierce shooting incident

FORT PIERCE, Fla. — What could have ended in tragedy instead ended with two arrests after deputies responded to reports of multiple firearms being discharged at a Fort Pierce residence while the people involved had been drinking alcohol.
St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Night 2 deputies were called to a home in the 5100 block of Happiness Street at about 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, after a witness reported seeing a man and woman firing several weapons.
According to the sheriff’s office, the firearms included a shotgun, rifle and handguns. Deputies determined that the weapons were being fired into the ground, but investigators also learned that both individuals had consumed alcohol before and during the incident.
The two people were identified as Tiffany Rose Lindo, 25, and Jacob Roibert Mills, 25, both of Fort Pierce.
Lindo and Mills were each arrested and charged with Discharging a Firearm in Public or Residential Area and Use of a Firearm While Under the Influence of Alcohol. Fortunately, authorities said no one was injured.
The incident prompted a blunt reminder from the sheriff’s office: firearms and alcohol are a dangerous combination, regardless of whether someone believes they are shooting in a controlled direction.
Alcohol can impair judgment, coordination and decision-making — all critical factors when handling a firearm. The sheriff’s office urged anyone who is drinking to leave firearms alone and put them away rather than risk a potentially deadly mistake.
Both Lindo and Mills are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
