‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ swings past ‘Toy Story 5’ to become 2026’s biggest box office hit

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the highest-grossing movie of 2026 after an extraordinary first week in theaters, surpassing Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 in global ticket sales and continuing one of the fastest box office runs in movie history.
According to Sony and Marvel, the superhero blockbuster earned approximately $1.155 billion worldwide in just seven days, including $449 million domestically and more than $706 million internationally, overtaking Toy Story 5, which had previously led the year’s box office with about $1.067 billion.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Peter Parker after the events that left the world with no memory of his true identity. Now fighting crime entirely on his own while watching his closest friends move on without him, Peter undergoes a profound personal transformation as he confronts a mysterious new villain unlike any he has faced before.
The film stars Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.
