Carrot Top hospitalized after reported suicide attempt

Comedian Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was hospitalized in Las Vegas on Friday following what multiple outlets reported was a suicide attempt.
According to TMZ, sources familiar with the situation said the 61-year-old performer was rushed to a local hospital after the incident. His scheduled Friday night show at the Luxor Hotel & Casino was canceled.
Thompson’s representative, Jami Schlicher, told TMZ that the comedian is recovering and receiving medical care and support.
“His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy,” Schlicher said.
Further details about the incident were not immediately available.
Carrot Top has been a fixture of the Las Vegas entertainment scene for years, best known for his energetic prop-comedy performances, distinctive red hair and elaborate stage productions. His Luxor residency has become one of the longest-running comedy engagements in Las Vegas.
